James P. Maddox, M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery and total joint replacement. He earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, MO. He then completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery there, serving in his final year as Chief Resident of Orthopaedic Surgery at both the Harry S. Truman Memorial Medical Center and the University of Missouri Medical Center. He spent part of the following year with his family in Ogbomosho, Nigeria, serving as Orthopaedic Consultant to a Baptist Mission hospital there, and the rest of the year in specialty spine training at the University of Missouri.

With over 38 years of experience, Dr. Maddox is a leader in the diagnosis and treatment of spine injuries and conditions and is the only surgeon in the Wiregrass that treats scoliosis. He performs minimally invasive spine surgery using the latest in surgical technology, treats compression fractures with kyphoplasty, and also performs knee, hip and shoulder replacement.

Dr. Maddox, his wife Linda, and their four children support the Alabama Baptist Children's Home and several local faith-based non-profit organizations. Each year Maddox Farms hosts Heritage Farm Day and Trail Ride and invite the public to come and see live demonstrations of farming with horses, sawmilling, syrup making, and corn shelling. Dr. Maddox is also part owner of Holland Road Furniture, a reclaimed live-edged woodworking company, a business venture initiated by his son, Josh.
