Behavior Health Social Worker - Behavior Health
As a Mental Health Social Worker in a hospital's Mental Health Unit, you will provide comprehensive social work services to patients with mental health conditions. You will be crucial in addressing patients' emotional, psychological, and social needs and contributing to their overall well-being.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting assessments of patients' mental health conditions.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Providing counseling and support to patients and their families.
- You will advocate for patients' rights and ensure access to appropriate mental health services and resources.

Collaboration with community organizations and agencies will be essential to coordinate aftercare and support services for patients upon discharge. Additionally, you will conduct crisis interventions and risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.

Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings will allow you to provide input on treatment planning and patient progress. Accurate and up-to-date documentation of all interactions and interventions in patients' medical records will be essential for maintaining continuity of care.

You will need at least a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution with prior experience in mental health preferred.

Strong knowledge of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and relevant social work interventions will be crucial. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively engage and support patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and demanding healthcare environment and strong organizational skills will be necessary to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.

Empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental approach are essential qualities for supporting individuals with mental health challenges. Staying informed about current research, best practices, and developments in the mental health field will help enhance your professional knowledge and skills.
